As with our Friendly competitors we also manufacture garments with fabrics that are certified to national standards such as NFPA and CGSB. The use of certified FR fabrics and components (buttons, zippers, thread, and reflective trim) may give the end users some comfort. If documented performance test are provided there is no guarantee that the tests were performed by an approved accredited lab. In doing so the manufactures are only able to state that the fabric and components meet or are tested by the mill/component producer, not all FR fabrics and components meet the standard. There is no assurance that the design or the rigorous testing of the garments construction meets the standard.
Therefore the onus is on the individual (consumer) to determine if the tests were done accurately and if the data meets the standard.
